Rev. Otey Dyke was born Jan. 10 ,1865 .Departed this life Jan.22 1952 .He was 86 years and 12 days of age .Bro. Dyke was united in marrage to Mary Moss McNew in 1897.To this union was born 7 children.5 sons and 2 daughters,Dewey Dyke,Anco ,Ky.; Spurgeon Dyke ,Cumberland Gap,Tn.;Mrs Clyde Pyles,Barrett,W.Va.;Mrs W. H. Day,Cumberland Gap,Tn.;Elisha Dyke,Fork Ridge,Tn.;

Bro. Dyke had one sister ,Mrs Martha Hale,Pruden,Tn.18 grand children,12 great grand children and many relitives and friends to mourn his passing.A wife and two sons preceded him in death.

Brother Dyke made a profession of Faith in Christ in his early Twenties.

He joined the Liberty Missionary Baptist Church in Campbell County.He was ordained by this Church to the full work of the ministy.

After being ordained Brother Dyke became very active in preaching the gospel of Christ. He was pastor of many of many churches in different Counties,throughout East Tennessee. His Pastoral Work was Very successful. Correct Records show that over 5000 were converted under his preaching and Evangelistic endeavors. He died a member of Sunny Bridge Baptist Church. Brother Dyke died in the Lord and is at rest from his labors. He was loved by all who knew him. We have lost a good friend but our loss is Heaven,s gain.

Nephews were Pallbearers. Giles Reece Funeral Home in Charge.

Many errors are Found in this Obituary in relation to Otey Dykes Family.

He was First a Methodist minister and then joined the Baptist Church Was Baptized and Ordained the same day. There was 10 children in his family according to his mother in the 1900 Census and his marriage record in Campbell Co.m.r. b.G page 535 lists his marriage date July 10-1898.
