Jerry,

First let me comment on the Rogers- Ben Web page. You are doing a great job maintaining and adding new material to it. Although I don't agree with all its content, but you knew that without saying. I noticed that we don't have any information on John (TPM's) son Reuben B.

We know that Reuben B. Rogers lived in Knox County on August 7, 1833 when he sold his share in his fathers estate.  (Claiborne County Deed Book K, page 249 )

I found the following yesterday at a LDS Family History Library, FHL US/CAN Film #0464120 titled TN, Knox County, Probate Records, Estate Book, Vol. 1, 5, 6, 1792-1839. Volume 6 was extracted from original records by a group of lady's from the Knox County Historical Society in the mid 1930s.

Page 261 of the original Estate Book Vol. 6, Sept. Session 1838. The last will and testament of REUBEN B. ROGERS dated Jan. 10, 1838. He left all his estate Real and Personal to his wife AMY ROGERS with full power and authority to sell his real estate for the purpose of purchasing other more suitable to her circumstances if she thinks proper. (I wonder why he thought his property was unsuitable for her to own?) If their son JAMES remained in Knox County to help his mother raise and educate his brothers and sisters, he would inherit the whole estate upon his mothers death. (This indicates Reuben B. Rogers had at least 3 boys and 2 girls.)

Could this be John (TPM's) son?

As we know, there have been several Reuben B. Rogers and most  had the middle name of  Brawley.  John (TPM)'s son Reuben B. Rogers appears to have been the first Reuben B. and I'd bet my last € that his middle name must have been Brawley too since his mother was John's second wife, Mary (Polly) Brawley.

I have this Reuben B. Rogers' date of birth as ca 1795, but that's just an educated guess.  The next Reuben B. (Brawley) Rogers that I have was born in 1821.  He was the son of Jesse b. 1791 who was the half-brother of the first Reuben B.  Jesse moved his family to Marion County, Tennessee in 1826 and then on to Greene Co, MO in 1845.

So, it appears that the Reuben B. Rogers you found in Knox County, Tennessee in 1838 has to be son of John (TPM) and Polly Brawley.  Good work.  As always, these great finds bring more questions, but what you found is certainly a good start at identifying what happened to another one of John (TPM)'s children.
