Hello Jerry,

Thank you for the information. My great-great grandmother is Hester Ann Small Emory, the Hester Ann that you list as being born in 1838. My mother tells me that my great-grandfather wanted to name my grandmother Hester Ann, after her grandmother, but they settled on Beulah Ann instead. Hmmm?

Grandma never liked being named Beulah! I wonder if she would have liked being named Hester Ann. She told me about her grandmother, Hester Ann, and said that she was a wonderful grandmother who lived for 15 years after my grandmother was born in 1902. I have visited Hester Ann's grave in Hartshorne, Oklahoma, cemetery. Several years ago, family members had a new grave stone made for her. She is buried next to my great-grandfather, her son-in-law, Jesse Robert Knight who was killed working on the railroad in 1916. My mother tells me that she originally had reddish hair, and in her later years, was well thought of in the community and people often came to her for advice.

I have never seen a photo of her and I'm not aware that one exists. The earliest photo that I have is of the family in 1906 which is my great grandmother and Hester's daughter, Cora Rebecca Emory Knight (1874-1972), her husband, and family. I'll be glad to scan it and send it to the list serve if anyone is interested. I'd sure like to see one if it exists. Do any photos exist of Mary Katherine Rogers or any of the Tennessee family?
