Richard Calvin (Dick) Carner (1899-1970) was a pioneer auto mechanic who owned a large automobile repair garage with his brother, John, on Commercial Street in Springfield, Missouri.

Although the garage was sold a number of years ago, it is still operated today and still bears the Carner name.

In WWII he was drafted, but since he was over 40 years of age, he was sent to California rather than to serve overseas.  He served at Victorville, CA during the war as a Pvt. in Det 12 2052rd Ordnance Service Co. He did not find the work very demanding or enjoyable and used to tell stories about his boring service at "Liquorville", CA.

Their marriage certif. was issued in Christian Co. Witnesses were Mrs. Ellen Rose and Mrs. Nora Chrisman.
