Jerry,

I finally have a few minutes and can give you my descending line from Sarah

Jane:

DOCTOR CLINTON BUTLER b. 8/4/1845 Fincastle?, Campbell County, TN d. 9/7/1932 Omega, Blaine County, OK Son of Robert b. c. 1814 VA and Nancy Unknown Butler, b. c. 1815 TN.
M. 7/13/1865 SARAH JANE MONDAY b. 5/3/1840 Claiborne County, TN d. 1/12/1891 Campbell County, TN Daughter of SAMUEL AND DELIAH MONDAY.

Children of Doc and Sarah Jane (all born in Campbell County):

William H. b. 7/20/1866 d. 4/1/1868

JAMES SAMUEL b. 3/29/1868 d. 4/22/1846 (MY GRANDFATHER)

Robert C. b. 9/16/1869 d. 7/17/1890

Sallie Ann b. 12/25/1870 d. 7/5/1890

Joe b. 7/18/1882 d. 7/19/1884

As you can see, Sarah Jane and Doc lost all of their children, except my grandfather James Samuel, when they were quite young. I don't know at this point if Robert C. and Sallie Ann lived long enough to have married. The fact that they died a couple of weeks apart leads me to believe they could have still been living at home.

********

JAMES SAMUEL b. 3/29/1868 Campbell County, TN d. 4/22/1846, Anadarko, OK
M. 3/29/1891 Sallie Mossie Pierce, b. 9/17/1867 Campbell County TN, d. 9/19/1956 Anadarko, OK --

Ella Mabel b. 12/14/1901, OK, d. 11/17/1994, NM
m. Clarence B. Parnell (married twice thereafter, but all children are from marriage of Ella and Clarence).

Vella Irene b. 1/15/1912 OK d. 5/15/1990 Whittier, CA. m. William L. Nelson

James and Sallie left Tennessee and participated in one of the Oklahoma land runs. Doc went with them. I understand from a fellow Butler researcher that Doc married a second time, to a Claiborne girl, Victoria Carr, on 2/14/1900, but she is not with him in 1900 Oklahoma census. He appears there and is listed as a widower. Vickie does appear in the next census. They had four children - who lived normal lifespans.

I tried to get a copy of Doc and Sarah Jane's marriage record. I don't know that it would have helped any if they had returned the marriage license, but they did not, so all I received was a copy of the marriage register. I was hoping for a connection to someone in Sarah Jane's family as a witness to the wedding and thus confirm that she is indeed the daughter of Samuel and Deliah.

I have looked into other Sarah Jane Mondays in Tennessee near her age, and with the process of elimination, have finally decided my Sarah Jane is the daughter of Samuel and Deliah. So until another Sarah Jane bumps me out --

I'm here with the Rogers family.

I have not been able to locate a burial site for Sarah Jane. Could she be in one of the unmarked graves at Shutters?

I have had other Claiborne/Campbell county marriages in my lines. My gggreat uncle Thomas Pierce (Campbell County) married Hester Ann Monday (Sarah Jane's sister) (his second marriage). Its a long shot, but I've ordered a pension record for a Mary S. Monday, another sister of Sarah Jane?, widow of William Carroll, brother to my ggrandmother Elizabeth Carroll Pierce? I hope so.

I have not been able to locate Elizabeth Carroll Pierce's father, George Carroll, or any of her siblings since 1850 Campbell County Census. So I'm really hoping that William Carroll and Mary Monday are in my line.

Jerry, how you keep track of all of us is beyond me. My family alone takes up more time than I have to give to this "hobby." It can be absolutely thrilling -- and mind-driving crazy! Believe I have mentioned that Carol Woodward has forwarded some of your messages on the Rogers family. I am totally amazed at the information that has been gathered. And I sincerely appreciate your spearheading this effort.

You mentioned a GED/Family Treemaker file for the Rogers. Could you possibly send me a hard copy? Carol tried to forward the file to me weeks ago and I don't have the software for it. If you could add that postage to what I owe you for latest research report, I'd appreciate it.
